History

The department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was founded in 1982 under the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Gazi University. Previously it was serving under Ankara State Engineering and Architecture Academy (ADMMA). The language of the undergraduate education was completely Turkish until 1993 at which time it became bilingual. Since then it is called 30% English program as minimum 30% of the curriculum has to be in English. The curriculum of the department has near 90% English courses. There have been four major curriculum changes of which the final one was in 2016. The current curriculum has all the Electrical and Electronic courses as well as some of the Math and Physics courses in English. Since 2015 there has been also a 100% English undergraduate program. The 30% English program has been accredited by MUDEK (a member of Washington Accord) since 2004.
